Finding Strength Through the Storm: My Lichen Sclerosis Healing Journey

I never imagined how much my life would change after menopause. Around the age of 50, I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis affecting my labia — a condition that quietly crept into my life and demanded my full attention. Over the years, I learned to manage it naturally, working closely with a homeopath, avoiding trigger foods, and leaning into holistic healing.

But in August 2024, everything changed.

The Lichen Sclerosis (LS) spiraled out of control. It looked like an intense LS flare at first — and sadly, the initial diagnosis from my OBGYN was wrong. In the time it took to figure that out, my symptoms exploded: searing stinging, raw nerve pain, burning, and relentless itching that made it almost impossible to move. I was trapped in my own body, barely able to get out of bed.

I fought with everything I had — homeopathy, diet, supplements, topical treatments, antiviral medication — but nothing touched the pain. For the first time, I felt truly helpless. It wasn't just discomfort; it was debilitating suffering.

In a moment of clarity and courage, I sought another opinion. This time, the new OBGYN took one look and immediately sent me to an oncologist. My heart sank — I knew something bigger was happening.

I was overwhelmed with shock when I found out I needed radical vulvar surgery. The pathology showed squamous carcinoma cells. While the surgical margins were clean, cancer cells had reached two lymph nodes on the left and one on the right. Thankfully, no other visible abnormalities were found.

​

Today, the unbearable pain is gone — only surgical healing remains. And even though I'm carrying the weight of fear, I'm also holding tightly onto hope. I know healing isn't just about treating the body — it's about nourishing the soul.

Right now, I’m embracing the care of incredible and passionate holistic doctors — healers who have dedicated their lives to bringing advanced, transformative treatments to those facing devastating illnesses. I am choosing to surround myself with love, unwavering support, and powerful, nurturing energies as I walk this healing path. I am intentionally surrounding myself with love, expert support, and powerful healing energy every step of the way.

This is the beginning of a new chapter for me — one that will demand strength, trust, and surrender. And while I didn’t choose this path, I am choosing how I walk it: with courage, with tenderness, and with an unshakable belief in my body’s ability to heal.
